Description

Hey Y'all I'm back and this week with Tovolar Werewolf/Wolf tribal! I'm really excited to build this since I have always loved the tribe and tried to make it work several times before landing on this list.

BEFORE YOU CRAFT READ THIS!!!!

This deck is not good. I would argue that while it is really fun and you can get some really satisfying werewolf kills and transformations in that the deck really needs more tools in the tribe to succeed. This is not a deck to build if you are missing a bunch of the cards or if you are looking for a bunch of free wins. This is a deck that you craft if you have the majority of the ww pieces from pulling standard packs or if you wanna do some janky stuff in the queue.

Decktech:

So this deck aims to be an aggro/midrange list that is trying to get card advantage by going face with our commander out. We've tried to throw all the good werewolves and wolves that are in the curve out so that we can transform as early as turn 4 or 5 with Tovolar out. We do our best into control matchups when they only have single target removal since we can start to outvalue them in the midgame. We can also stabalize vs small aggro decks like mono r since we generally have pretty big bodies. We love to have a few of our cards that produce multiple creatures to make transforming easier like Arlinn, the Pack's Hope // Arlinn, the Moon's Furyimage and Ferocious Pupimage

Knowing which matchups that you need to be on the beatdown early and others that give you time to setup is important. Since we have draw built into the commander mulliganing down to 6 aggressively can be really strong since we are punished less by it.

Cards that have overperformed for me have been Skalla Wolfimage with its ability to grab any green card it can help you to get a Great Henge or a Fight card and has been really cool to let me grab spells off the top in this color pair. Burn Down the Houseimage has also been a really strong sweeper to stabalize against other aggro decks since if we've been swinging back and forth we generally have more cards in hand due to Tovolar's draw power. Insult//Injury has also been really strong with the double damage allowing us to eke out some wins we shouldn't have.

Since the power of the deck isn't going to be high anyways I did try to fit in a few fun pet cards like Uncaged Fury, Neyith of the Dire Hunt, and Hunter's Insight for their wolfishness. Kinda the best takeaway until we get more with the next set since we desperately need some more werewolves to be injected into historic to make this work.

Right now my advice would be to just take it easy and if you really want to play WW try this or play standard since they seem to be doing pretty well there.

If you like the deck please feel free to leave a comment here on the deck or above I've got a video that you can check out as well that has us playing 5 games with the deck. I do think that the 4th game may have the most hilarious endings since we beat a control deck with milling them out.

Appreciate taking the time to check out the deck! Hope y'all have a great week!

Be Radiant!
