Yesterday he was mentioning how good Invoke Justice should be, and I agree!! For 5 mana you return a permanent to play and add 4 +1 counters to boot! I played with the card a bit when Kamigawa just hit but moved on from it. I didnt get to see his final deck, but I think he was building around UW.
So I incorporated it into the Selesnya "ramp" deck that's been seeing a lot of play. I like that deck a lot, but it has issues(at least the lists I've seen). There's little to no card draw other than Yasharn, Implacable Earth's land grab and very little board presence until turn four or five. Wedding Announcement // Wedding Festivity does draw, but very rarely. You need the tokens as chump blockers more than anything. I think Prosperous Innkeeper is just an ass card in GW. White has plenty of heal, and the ramp it provides is temporary. So, I kept the good stuff from it and added some cards that provide draw, heal, and some meat for invoke to hit.
We want to drop a land every turn. Restoration of Eiganjo, Sunblade Samurai, Spirited Companion, and Sunset Revelry provide that along with heal and recursion. They're also all Invoke Targets that produce effects of some sort, or in the Samurai's case potentially become an 8/8 vigilance creature. Mix this in with Selesnya's other bombs like Starnheim Unleashed, Emeria's Call and Esika's Chariot and we have a deck that's cooking with some gas!
March of Otherworldly Light is flexible removal. Fateful Absence and Valorous Stance are good cards, but march's ability to discard to exile threats is too good so those are sideboard options in a Bo3 match. March and Wandering Emperor are enough removal along with your pretty large creatures to handle anything else.
The Archon of Emeria is probably gonna get cut when I tweak this. He provides a lot of utility for this deck since his penalty doesnt hurt us but that's about it. Probably a sideboard. Since I'm a degenerate and love the card too much, expect to see Colossal Skyturtle in future lists. An Invoked 10/9 flying ward 3 creature is too hilarious to pass up on!
I also think there's an Arena budget version here somewhere(4 Emperors and 6-10 rares), and I'm interested in trying to make one so hopefully I'll have a workable list for that soon!
Any feedback is appreciated!! While I play a lot of games, I don't see what problems decks have vs every matchup. Feedback helps tune future lists for everyone to use to smash other decks!
Enjoy!!
