Overview:
The idea of this deck is to combo Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner and Bioessence Hydra, along with Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca to make a 22/22 Flying Trample creature on turn 4. These three cards synergize really well together. I have made a visual aid to help explain this: https://i.imgur.com/ePaaJUX.jpg as words are hard.
Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner allows you to activate a flipped Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca ability twice if you have the mana for it. You can either use it on two different creatures, or use it on the same creature again. If you use it on the same creature, it will take into account the creatures buffed power level and double that instead.
Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner also has huge synergies with Bioessence Hydra, as it will activate Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner's card draw ability. Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner also starts with 7 loyalty points, which is high for a 3CMC Planeswalker. If she is still on 7 loyalty points when Bioessence Hydra is played, it will resolve as a 11/11. You can also play Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner when Bioessence Hydra is on the battlefield to give it +7/+7. It may even be worth playing another Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner as a 3CMC permanent +7/+7 pump.
This is where the Bioessence Hydra's synergy with Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca comes into play. If Bioessence Hydra and Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner are both in play with when Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca resolves, Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca will immediately flip at the start of combat as it will already have three or more +1/+1 counters on it. This also works if you play Bioessence Hydra when Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca and Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner are on the field before your combat step.
Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner's -1 ability can be used in other ways too, here are some examples:
Other Notable Cards:
Incubation Druid - Once it has a counter on it, it gives you access to a whole bunch of mana, especially with Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner on the board as since you get get 6 mana out of it instead of 3. This deck gives you a multitude of ways to get a counter on it, giving you access to its Adapt ability:
Another quirk Incubation Druid has is with a flipped Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca. Once it has flipped into Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca you can access every mana color with your Incubation Druid. Somewhat useless in this deck, but it is something to look out for if you are splashing other colors.
Neoform - This card allows you to pull the combo off turn 4. Sacrificing Llanowar Elves and turning it into an Incubation Druid with a +1/+1 counter gives you access to its Adapt ability turn 3. It can also gain value by turning your Frilled Mystic into Bioessence Hydra or Roalesk, Apex Hybrid, and even turning Roalesk, Apex Hybrid into a Carnage Tyrant whilst activating its death trigger.
Carnage Tyrant - This plus Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca is just straight up good. Even without it, it's just a menace to deal with. It also triggers Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner's card draw ability.
Roalesk, Apex Hybrid - Can put +1/+1 counters on Carnage Tyrant and itself, allowing it to benefit from Roalesk, Apex Hybrid's death trigger and Karn's Bastion's Proliferate ability. It can also put counters on Incubation Druid, giving it access to its Adapt ability without having to Adapt. It also triggers Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner's card draw ability.
Karn's Bastion - Good mana sink for longer games. It allows an infinite cycle of Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner -1 abilities as long as you have the mana for it and she doesn't take damage from elsewhere. It also adds double the counters to Bioessence Hydra if you have a planeswalker down.
Optimal Curve:
Turn 1: Llanowar Elves
Turn 2: Neoform (Llanowar Elves into Incubation Druid)
Turn 3: Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner (-1, untap Incubation Druid) + Bioessence Hydra
Turn 4: Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca (use counter on Bioessence Hydra) + Attack with 22/22 Bioessence Hydra with Flying
If you have Incubation // Incongruity available on turn 2 or 3, you can use it with your spare mana to search for a Frilled Mystic so if you hit all your land drops and tap properly, you should have enough mana to cast Frilled Mystic to prevent any removal whilst you attack in turn 4.
You can extend this to turn 5 and use Hadana's Climb // Winged Temple of Orazca twice on Bioessence Hydra by being able to untap it with Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner, creating a 44/44 Bioessence Hydra with flying. This was the inspiration for this deck and was originally aimed at a 48/48 on turn 5, but since I realised you can have lethal turn 4 I streamlined it for that combo instead.
