Historic - Oglor's Watermill

Oglor is a skilled artisan who would like to make you some zombie bros. Oglor is such a good friend! --Only thing is, he needs a watermill to do his work.

Let's help Oglor by making him a watermill. We could combine mill cards like Wand of Vertebraeimage, Skull Prophetimage and Discerning Tasteimage, with Gaea's Blessingimage to create a continuous stream of cards in and out of the graveyard.

Prosperous Innkeeperimage can ramp, but primarily provides lots of health.

Silversmote Ghoulimage can hop back into play nearly every turn due to Innkeeper and Taste, so use him as a draw engine, and a health engine, and a chump engine, and a sac target engine.

Fiend Artisanimage is a great way to tutor/cheat your combo pieces into play.  If Innkeeper and Silversmote are in play, you can do this every round.

Syr Konrad, the Grimimage is the alternate watermill combo piece.

Murderous Riderimage and Outland Liberator // Frenzied Trapbreakerimage are our response package.  Together they cover artifacts, enchatments, creatures, and planeswalkers.  The responses are all creatures to keep the creature density of the deck high for the combo.  There are only a total of 6 resopnses in your deck, so focus on your combo, and use the responses sparingly.

Find // Finalityimage/Finality was added as a BO1 sweeper for when you really need it, but it was chosen as sweeper of choice because obviously when you don't need it, Find is great.

This is purely a fun Jank deck. It loses to:

  • Response-heavy decks
  • Aggro decks in red
  • Control Decks with sweepers
  • Control Decks with exiles
  • Most any deck with graveyard hate
  • Bomb decks
  • Competitive decks

It wins to:

  • Mill decks
  • Go-wide decks
  • Value Engine decks (some)
  • Midrange decks (some)

 Considering changes:

  • Field of Ruin has been pretty strong in the deck; it might be worth going up to 2 or 3, you just don't want them in your starting hand.
  • Other sacrifice lands might also be good for the deck, but unless I'm adding Molderhulk for the Memorial combo, I'm not sure any of them are worth the coming in tapped cost, and I don't think Molderhulk is where the deck wants to be.
  • Maybe this should be a Blood for Bones style deck with more bombs, or possibly lower to the ground with Call of the Death-Dweller and Inscription of Ruin.
  • The deck is weak in the air.  Bloodthirsty Aerialistimage might be a good fix for that.  If added, Moss-Pit Skeletonimage might be a cheeky inclusion, as each zombro adds a counter to aerialist, resulting in Moss-pit making another zombro.  If you have mill engines in play, you can push the Moss-pit back into grave, and go another round.
  • Another way to build this might be to go aggro with the pings by adding things like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Roseimage and Creeping Chillimage
