To slam Alesha, Who Laughs at Fate down, protect her and get at least one or two attacks in with her, or grow her another way to get her power above 3 or 4. Sometimes she can do enough without having to attack, and I will explain below.
Alesha's Raid mechanic allows you to bring a creature back from the graveyard each turn, as long as you attacked (Raid) and as long as that creature has mana value equal or less than Alesha's power. Alesha gets a +1/+1 counter each time she attacks. We can use things like Lavaspur Boots for haste and +1/+0, which can turn on mana value 4 creatures in the graveyard on the turn she enters, as long as you have enough to play her and equip the boots.
There are some key cards and themes included to try and cover as many situations as possible, with a heavy focus on discarding the enemy's hand and making them sacrifice all their creatures one by one.
The deck struggles against decks that can spit out lots of creature tokens, so try and tackle threats like Myrel, Shield of Argive and Horn of Gondor
, and other crazy token generators as soon as possible. You can make someone sacrifice two creatures in one turn at best with Alesha, by playing something like Fleshbag Marauder
, sacking itself, then the raid trigger brings it back to do the same again. From then on, it's always an option each turn to bring that back if they play more creatures, or things like hand discard, artifact removal, etc.
Accursed Marauder. Fleshbag Marauder
, Plaguecrafter
, Demon's Disciple
- Recurring creature removal. Plaguecrafter also gets planeswalkers.
Burglar Rat, Corrupt Court Official
, Thieves' Guild Enforcer
, Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger
- Make things of the opponents go into their graveyard from their hand or library. Kroxa is especially disgusting to keep recurring, as you get more triggers for Blood Artist type creatures, opponent loses cards, or loses 3 life.
Brain Maggot, Deep-Cavern Bat
, Kitesail Freebooter
- These are great early game to remove threats to Alesha. If they get removed, they're always extra choice to hit their hand again later on. Often though, discard works better, but yeah - nice to have some choice.
Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Reckless Lackey
, Robber of the Rich
, Charming Scoundrel
, Dreadhorde Butcher
, Undead Sprinter
etc. - Great creatures with haste or abilities to make them have haste, ensuring an attack when you need to attack for a Raid trigger.
Crashing Drawbridge, Goblin Motivator
, Swiftfoot Boots
, Lavaspur Boots
- Gives targets haste. These are lower costed than Alesha, so getting these down first makes sure Alesha cna attack the turn she's down, so she can instantly start growing and returning bigger targets.
Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat
, Bastion of Remembrance
- You will be wanting to send your creatures attacking into certain doom, to maintain your Raid triggers, so why not profit from it?
Lagomos, Hand of Hatred, Urabrask's Forge
, Skeletons of the Lost - Repeatedly create tokens that you don't care if they die, as they get exiled anyway, keeps up Raid triggers, and Urabrask's in particular gets better each turn. Skeletons of the Lost cna be a tad harder to keep doing, compared, but a nice option to get an easy 3 damage attack in on turn 3, if needed.
Go for the Throat, Shoot the Sheriff
, etc - Plenty of removal if the oppponent has something too big to attack without it screwing you, or if they are going slightly wider than you.
Basilisk Collar - This is exceptional with a first strike creature that cares about attacking, like Alesha does. Deathtouch alone makes this worth it, but the lifelink seals the deal. Cheap to cast and equip and huge value for Alesha.
Massacre Wurm, The Meathook Massacre
, Goblin Chainwhirler
- Even as a shadow of its former self, Meathook is still a great spell to remove creature token battlefield spam, as is Massacre Wurm. Chainwhirler could be swapped the easiest out of this deck and is very situational. I have him included here due to Hare Apparent being so rampant right now.
Inti, Seneschal of the Sun, Viashino Lashclaw
, Fear of Missing Out
, Irreverent Gremlin
- Discard outlets if you have a creature in hand you would rather have in the graveyard ready for Alesha to reanimate. Also, Inti cna do this plus grow Alesha to bring back more.
Flamecache Gecko, Wily Goblin
, Kalain, Reclusive Painter
, Plundering Pirate
- General mana ramp / treasure creation that can be repeated.
Untoppable Slasher, Preacher of the Schism, Drana, Liberator of Malakir
- Attacks matter. You want these attacking, they are a nuisance and usually a higher value target to deal with than Alesha. Use these to distract your opponents at worst, and get value at best.
Searslicer Goblin, Perforating Artist
- What's better than a Raid commander? MORE RAID TRIGGERS!
If you want some more hand discard, there's also Mardu Skullhunter that functions the same as other discard-when-enters creatures in this deck for two mana, where normally it wouldn't be so good as it enters tapped.
Gutless Plunderer isn't a bad idea for card advantage, and getting things into your graveyard easily.
Raiders' Wake - THis is nice but at 4 mana, it cna be a bit later to keep discards up. At turn 4, you want to be bringing back removal and suppression, usually. A nice choice if you take it regardless.
Rev, Tithe Extractor - Not crafted this myself, but on paper this looks like great synergy. 4 mana value isn;t too outof Alesha's grasp, and turning on Deathtouch for a creature each attack is great, as well as stealing the opponent's stuff and getting treasure.
Body Dropper, Mayhem Devil
- To synergise with sac triggers from Kroxa, Lagomos and Urabrasks's Forge, as well as when you force your opponent to sacrifice.
Chain Devil - More forced sacrifices, but this is 4 mana which is a little out of range at times.
Fumulus, The Infection - More sacrifice triggers, plus token generation that turns on even more leech from attacking, great synergy.
Grave Pact - Essentially doubles the sacrifices from your marauder creatures, punishes opponents for removing your stuff.
Phyrexian Obliterator - I mean...
You can also add some more card draw, like Dusk Legion Zealot and the like, for the sake of a few life points if you find the deck struggling to keep stocked with things to cast.
