I wanted to have some fun with Assimilation Aegis, so I built this deck with a Siren Tribal theme. Sirens naturally have some synergy with artifacts, and I thought this would be a great way to put my own spin on it. Hereās the decklist and the gameplan for piloting it effectively.
Spyglass Siren: A solid one-drop that brings a map token to the battlefield, which always has value. Use it for the explore ability, or just let it boost your artifact count.
Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel: With flash, you can drop this Siren on your opponent's end step to sneak it onto the battlefield. It also provides a great way to curate your hand as the game progresses.
Oaken Siren: As an artifact creature, it synergizes beautifully with our artifact-centric cards. It provides a mana boost when you need it and has vigilance, letting you plink away while still holding back for defense.
Zephyr Singer: Thanks to convoke, this card can enter the battlefield unexpectedly. By convoking with the artifact constructs created by Simulacrum Synthesizer
, you can give them flying and turn the tide in your favor. This card often seals the win in close games.
Into the Flood Maw: A cheap interaction tool, perfect for stalling your opponent or removing key obstacles. Use it at the right moment to swing the game in your favor.
Three Steps Ahead: This versatile blue card provides a bit of everything. While itās primarily a counterspell, it can also draw cards orāmost excitingly in this deckācopy spells. If you have the mana, feel free to do all three!
Get Lost: Your main source of removal. Itās efficient and flexible, capable of taking care of enchantments, creatures, or even planeswalkers. Use it wisely to avoid trouble.
Assimilation Aegis: A centerpiece of the deck. It can exile creatures while itās on the battlefield, but the real fun begins when you equip it to one of your Sirens. Your Sirens can effectively become those creatures, and they make great targets for your copy effects later on.
Braided Net // Braided Quipu: A great stall card that fits perfectly into the deckās artifact-focused strategy. When crafted, it also provides some much-needed card advantage.
Simulacrum Synthesizer: This is your kill card. It creates large artifact creature constructs that can overwhelm opponents in the mid-to-late game. Pair it with Worldwalker Helm
for some explosive synergy.
Worldwalker Helm: Not only does this card generate more map tokens (which are always useful), but it also creates copies of tokens already on the battlefield. Pair it with your artifact constructs or artifacts copied by Three Steps Ahead
for some devastating board states.
This deck plays with a dual strategy, shifting gears midgame to catch your opponents off guard. Youāll start as a flying creature control deck, using Sirens to chip away at your opponent while keeping their threats at bay. Most of your early creatures will likely eat removal spells, which is fineāthat just clears the way for the real engine.
In the mid-to-late game, youāll transition into an artifact control deck. Use your control spells to eliminate threats, then drop Simulacrum Synthesizer to start flooding the board with artifact constructs. Once you have a stable position, Worldwalker Helm
and Assimilation Aegis
can help you outpace your opponent and close the game.
These matches wonāt be quick, but theyāll be methodical and rewarding. Play defensively, remove your opponentās threats, and strike when the timing is right.
Sideboard Suggestions
For particularly aggressive matchups, consider adding Temporary Lockdown. Itās a strong tool for handling early-game pressure from aggro decks. You might want to take out one copy each of Assimilation Aegis
and Braided Net // Braided Quipu
to make room for it.
