First of all - this is a fun deck! It can win, but it is not fast and vulnerable to extreme agro decks or strong flyers. And yes, there are much better removal spells available, but I wanted to stick to the theme of the deck ;-)
On the deck technique:
We want to create food. Lots of food. It helps us with our cards that rely on sacrifice, such as, "Devouring Sugarmaw", "Candy Grapple" and in the late game "Scavenger's Talent". At the same time, we want to get the best possible profit from our sacrifices. Rather poor cards such as the "Experimental Confectioner" can shine in this deck. For example, food can be sacrificed for a rat token on the opponent's turn. This can in turn trigger the "Caretaker's Talent" or other sacrifice synergy cards. An instant graveyard removal with "Lord Skitter, Sewer King" is also possible. Food and "Midnight Snack" can, in combination with "Enduring Tenacity", ensure a quick end to the opponent.
It's even possible to mill your opponent to death with the "Scavenger's Talent" as soon as the "Doomsday Excruciator" is played.
Why I chose these cards:
"Devouring Sugarmaw"
Very good for creating a blocker and food early on. Otherwise very cheap and the sacrifice effect can help.
"Doomsday Excruciator"
Primarily as a mill win in the deck. With a "Scavenger's Talent" at level two, a direct win.
"Enduring Tenacity"
In combination with the high life gain, always good for some extra damage. Can be deadly with the "Midnight Snack" alone. For example, with five mana, a sacrificed food and the subsequent sacrificed "Midnight Snack" do nine damage. With two sacrificed foods, it is 18 damage!
"Experimental Confectioner"
At first glance, a very weak card. But since we often sacrifice food, a small rat army can be created here. These can in turn be sacrificed for e.g. "Scavenger's Talent". Creating a Rat Token can also trigger the "Caretaker's Talent" or an instant graveyard hate from "Lord Skitter, Sewer King" on the opponent's turn.
"Lord Skitter's Butcher"
Very versatile. An additional token that triggers the "Caretaker's Talent" or "Lord Skitter, Sewer King" or draws a card is always good and the Menace effect can also prepare a good attack.
"Lord Skitter, Sewer King"
A little graveyard hate never hurts. And getting a Rat Token every turn also helps.
"Mintstrosity"
Good and cheap early blocker with a "reward" if it dies. Also good to use as a sacrifice.
"Candy Grapple"
Good removal. With an additional bargain, you can even handle "Sheoldred", "Bloodthirsty Conqueror", "Abhorrent Oculus" or the Overlords. The bargain can in turn trigger our own effects.
"Caretaker's Talent"
Card draw engine of choice.
"Carrot Cake"
A token and scry - always helpful.
"Case of the Uneaten Feast"
Life gain and good for getting our creatures back later.
"Eaten Alive"
Strong removal!
"Midnight Snack"
Almost an extra food every round. Very high damage possible in combination with "Enduring Tenacity".
"Scavenger's Talent"
Almost the heart of the deck. Our sacrifices give us extra food. At level two the mill effect as a win condition and level three brings our creatures back (combined with a 6x mill). In combination with the "Doomsday Excruciator" a direct win.
"Tribute to Hunger"
Very good against strong single creatures on the field (Valgavoth).
Overall, the deck has a lot of synergies and variable ways of dealing with your opponent's deck. And above all - it's a lot of fun to play!
