I took out The Great Henge
since it turns In Search of Greatness
into permantly "Scry 1", and put in a Garruk's Uprising
for card draw and trample. Henge could still be worth it but it's worth recognizing this interaction!
I also moved some slots around to make room for Questing Beast
to have some haste threats that can be proc'd off of a 3 cmc enchantment (such as Old-Growth Troll
) post-wipe which will likely be more common in KHD meta.
Goal of the Deck
Basically this deck is aiming to play high-devotion enchantments and sticky permanants to turn on our Nylea (and possibly Klothys) to give us an indestructible 5/6 which sizes nicely against Lovestruck Beast
and is resistant to removal/ board wipes.
We are also trying to make the most of In Search of Greatness by having a curve up to 6, with our top end being either hasty or value-generators.
Card Discussion
Blessing of Frost
could be a sweet card draw addition that could also size up our creatures to better attack into cards like Lovestruck Beast. The downside is it isn't a permanant so it doesn't contribute to our devotion.
Vivien, Monsters' Advocate
Certainly could help give us things to do with our mana, but it doesn't actually put cards in our hand to put onto the field with In Search of Greatness
Guilded Goose might be the better 1cmc creature, but I figured I'd try Jaspera Sentinel
for kicks.
If it looks like I have too much mana lying around I might consider (cautiously) adding cards like Crawling Barrens
or Bonders' Enclave
as mana sinks but they'd likely need to replace a creature to avoid messing up the manabase.
