Aggro Combo
The key to this deck are the Kami of Whispered Hopes
cards. The ability to add more counters plus ramp your mana with them is great.
Here are a couple cool things that I've found so far:
- Use a Homestead Courage
on Kami of Whispered Hopes in first main phase. Then attack with vigilance and hold up Tyvar's Stand at instant speed with the mana ability of the Kami of Whispered Hopes. - When you have a Quirion Beastcaller on turn two and play a Kami of Whispered Hopes on turn three, the Beastcaller will get one +1/+1 counter from the Kami and then you can attach into anything because either they let it go through for 3 damage or if it is dies from being blocked or destroyed (anything except exile) you put the counter on Kami and it gets two +1/+1 counters making it a 3/3. Now on turn four if you have a fourth land you already have 7 mana available. This also works with Iron Apprentice but it only has one +1/+1 counter by default unless you add more to it somehow.
- I also had two Kami's on the field with one Botanical Brawler and was able to play two Homestead Courage spells (one on each of the Kami's) adding a total of 12 +1/+1 counters! The way this works is that with two Kami's every +1/+1 counter added to a creature gives you that one plus two more. Additionally, the Brawler gets a +1/+1 counter each time another permanent gets their first +1/+1 counter of the turn. Therefore, each Homestead gives each of the Kami's 3 +1/+1 counter (total of 6 +1/+1 counters between the two Kami's) then the Brawler also gets 3 +1/+1 counters every time a Kami gets counter (Brawler gets 6 +1/+1 counter) for a total of 12!
- The other thing is that Contortionist Troupe is really good in this deck. It serves three main purposes, fits in the gaps of your curve, can add a +1/+1 counter at the end of each turn, and can be massive if you have counters on one or more Kami of Whispered Hopes.
The main thing I've thought about is whether to add more invasion since only Botanical Brawler
has trample.
