Reptilian Recruiter
Average Picked At: 10.78
Total Times Picked: 9
Average Last Seen At: 7.48
Total Times Seen 74
Pro Rating: 2
Pro Comment: This kind of effect can close out games sometimes, but it also frequently does nothing, and the base stat-line here is kind of rough. Is a sneaky way to trigger valiant on your own stuff, too.
Starlit Soothsayer
Average Picked At: 9.46
Total Times Picked: 13
Average Last Seen At: 7.66
Total Times Seen 129
Pro Rating: 2
Pro Comment: This has almost-passable stats and a mediocre life gain trigger. You can play it, but you're never going to be happy about it.
Shoreline Looter
Average Picked At: 5.71
Total Times Picked: 7
Average Last Seen At: 3.70
Total Times Seen 40
Pro Rating: 3
Pro Comment: This lets you rip through your deck while loading your graveyard, and once you have threshold it becomes a card advantage engine.
Consumed by Greed
Average Picked At: 4.36
Total Times Picked: 11
Average Last Seen At: 3.87
Total Times Seen 34
Pro Rating: 3.5
Pro Comment: This is a solid removal spell as a baseline, and sometimes it'll be worth giving your opponent a card to get a good creature back from your graveyard.
Scavenger's Talent
Average Picked At: 3.00
Total Times Picked: 4
Average Last Seen At: 2.80
Total Times Seen 10
Pro Rating: 1.5
Pro Comment: This is probably too slow to really do what it wants you to do. You just can't sink all this mana into it and have the payoff be that you have a difficult-to-use reanimation effect.
Alania, Divergent Storm
Average Picked At: 9.00
Total Times Picked: 4
Average Last Seen At: 4.79
Total Times Seen 23
Pro Rating: 3.5
Pro Comment: Most of the time, it's worth giving your opponent a card for a copy of an instant, sorcery, or Otter -- that's because you get the copy for free and it's likely to be better than a random card from their deck. Still, it can definitely backfire sometimes, and the times where you're unable to trigger this consistently will be tough.
Valley Floodcaller
Average Picked At: 15.00
Total Times Picked: 0
Average Last Seen At: 2.40
Total Times Seen 6
Pro Rating: 3.5
Pro Comment: You'll buff most of your creatures when you cast noncreature spells, the problem is many decks in the format won't have that many of them.
Dour Port-Mage
Average Picked At: 3.75
Total Times Picked: 4
Average Last Seen At: 3.50
Total Times Seen 12
Pro Rating: 3
Pro Comment: If you can get return a cheap creature with an ETB with this, it's going to feel great, and if nothing else it's a mana sink that draws you cards when you're flooding out.
Pond Prophet
Average Picked At: 7.24
Total Times Picked: 21
Average Last Seen At: 5.11
Total Times Seen 115
Pro Rating: 3
Pro Comment: This is one of the best creatures to blink, and a two mana 1/1 that draws you a card on ETB is a nice card to begin with.
Essence Channeler
Average Picked At: 1.67
Total Times Picked: 6
Average Last Seen At: 1.70
Total Times Seen 12
Pro Rating: 3
Pro Comment: This has a decent baseline, so it can work alright in any White deck -- since most will have a little life gain, but it'll be really powerful in Black-White.
Eddymurk Crab
Average Picked At: 4.67
Total Times Picked: 3
Average Last Seen At: 4.70
Total Times Seen 45
Pro Rating: 1.5 // 3.5
Pro Comment: You need to be a deck with lots of instants and sorceries to make this work, and that's a little frustrating in this set because most of the payoffs for this kind of thing look at noncreature spells more broadly. This'll work in UR and UB a decent chunk of the time and be pretty good, but even in those decks you don't alawys have enough instants and sorceries to feel good about playing this.
Fabled Passage
Average Picked At: 4.50
Total Times Picked: 2
Average Last Seen At: 3.60
Total Times Seen 11
Pro Rating: 3
Pro Comment: This is good fixing that you'll run in any two-color deck too. Getting that land untapped from the mid game on is a big upgrade from Evolving Wilds.
Coruscation Mage
Average Picked At: 6.88
Total Times Picked: 8
Average Last Seen At: 5.24
Total Times Seen 45
Pro Rating: 3
Pro Comment: This is a nice spell payoff, especially when you can Offspring. If you have lots of cheap spells, you can lower your opponent's life total in a hurry.
Knightfisher
Average Picked At: 6.29
Total Times Picked: 7
Average Last Seen At: 6.00
Total Times Seen 68
Pro Rating: 3.5
Pro Comment: This has imposing stats and in most Blue decks (and especially blue-white) will spit out lots of Fish tokens.
Wear Down
Average Picked At: 9.38
Total Times Picked: 8
Average Last Seen At: 7.28
Total Times Seen 77
Pro Rating: 0.5
Pro Comment: This isn't a format where you mainboard Naturalize.
Uncharted Haven
Average Picked At: 8.10
Total Times Picked: 20
Average Last Seen At: 6.32
Total Times Seen 145
Pro Rating: 2.5
Pro Comment: If you need fixing, this does it, and it's even decent in two-color decks.
Tidecaller Mentor
Average Picked At: 10.83
Total Times Picked: 6
Average Last Seen At: 7.09
Total Times Seen 55
Pro Rating: 3.5
Pro Comment: Once you have threshold this is nuts, and when you don't it's not too bad to run out on turn three.
Waterspout Warden
Average Picked At: 12.08
Total Times Picked: 13
Average Last Seen At: 9.40
Total Times Seen 223
Pro Rating: 2.5
Pro Comment: This will often have Flying, and while it's not quite a staight up three mana 3/2 flyer, it isn't that far either.
Whiskerquill Scribe
Average Picked At: 10.47
Total Times Picked: 15
Average Last Seen At: 8.48
Total Times Seen 192
Pro Rating: 1.5
Pro Comment: Two mana 2/2s aren't great these days, and this Valiant trigger is nothing special.
Sinister Monolith
Average Picked At: 9.00
Total Times Picked: 7
Average Last Seen At: 5.41
Total Times Seen 47
Pro Rating: 2.5
Pro Comment: This is a bit expensive for something that doesn't exactly add to the board, but you do get the first life drain trigger the turn you play it, and it can quickly snowball from there. Being able to cash it in for cards is no small thing, either.
