Huge Dungeon's & Dragons Movie Secret Lair Leaks
Wizards of the Coast has suffered yet another big leak for an upcoming release. This time it's for a Secret Lair for the new movie "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" that just recently came out. Given that WOTC makes both MTG and D&D (and have done a few crossovers already) it makes sense that they'd do a Secret Lair for the new movie. Apparently, the leak came from somewhere in Singapore and has since been deleted. That said, these spoilers look very legit.
We have a total of six new cards to look at today. Whether this is the entire Secret Lair drop or not, remains to be seen. Either way, the ones we do have now are pretty sweet! It's also interesting to see some big Hollywood actors/actresses on magic cards. So, without further ado, let's jump in.
Holga, Relentless Rager
Kicking things off, we have a six-mana 4/6 Human Barbarian. And it brings a lot to the table. First off, it has haste and must be blocked. The fact that this can come down and immediately swing is awesome. Next, whenever she attacks, each attacking creature you control gets +1/+0 for each creature defending the defending player controls.

I actually think this is quite good. After all, the only way you're not getting at least some boost is if the person you're attacking has no blockers. That's not a horrible worst-case scenario if you ask me. And if they do have a somewhat respectable amount of creatures in play, you're looking at some massive bonuses for your attackers.
This is 100% going into my Ardoz, Cobbler of War commander deck, which revolves around hasty attackers. You can find the list here if you're interested.
Edgin, Larcenous Lutenist
Edgin does two things - Gives your cards foretell and goads creatures whenever you cast multiple spells per turn. As far as the foretelling goes, his ability will allow you to get your spells out a little quicker, which should help you trigger his second ability. So, overall, I would say the abilities help one another out at least a bit.
At the end of the day, I think there are probably stronger standalone foretell (Ranar the Ever-Watchful) and goad (Thantis, the Warweaver) commanders but having the two abilities together is pretty cool. I don't know how powerful this card will be but A+ on the name.
Xenk, Paladin Unbroken
Those of you who play Paladins in D&D are special sorts of players (I can never play the class with any success) and you're getting a very interesting, and very powerful new mono-white commander. First, a 2/4 with Double Strike is a pretty sweet stat line at four mana. But the real gold lies in his ability to give all your auras exalted.

Piling auras like Daybreak Coronet and Ethereal Armor onto Xenk will quickly turn him into a giant attacker. Even with just the two, I mentioned he'd be attacking for 18 damage with lifelink, first strike, and vigilance. If you throw some auras that grant protection in the mix and you've got a recipe for Voltron success.
Doric, Nature's Warden
If you've ever wished you could play a bird bear as your commander, you're in luck as long last. Donic, Nature's Warden stats out as a 3/3, vigilant Teifling Druid that grabs a forest from your deck and puts it onto the battlefield tapped when she enters the battlefield. Then for another two mana you can transform her as she attacks.
When you do, she becomes a 6/6 bird bear who gains trample and gives your other legendary creatures +2/+2 and trample for the turn. Alas, she changes back at the beginning of your turn. So, you'll have to keep repaying that two mana to get the flip each turn. Therefore, the flip side is going to cost you six mana total to get to, without any commander tax.
I think there are some good things and bad things here. The good is that she gives you extra land when you cast her. Not only does this help to ramp you (and pay to flip her) but is also great for landfall and thinning your deck some. Furthermore, it doesn't say that it has to be a basic land, which is great.
The downside is that a 3/3 for four mana that you have to pay more mana into each turn isn't the best rate in the world. But perhaps, I'm just being a stickler. Maybe it could helm a mono-green legends deck and be ok. But for me personally, I'd rather run Reki, the History of Kamigawa but that's just me.
Simon, Wild Magic Sorcerer
You couldn't have a D&D Secret Lair without at least one dice-rolling card. Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery with a mana value of three or greater, you roll a D20. Then, you'll get an effect that scales in power based on how well you roll. 1-9 and everyone draws a card, 10-19 and just you draw, and if you hit a 20 you'll get to copy the spell that triggered the ability.
So, these range from ok to quite good. I imagine if you're playing this you'll also be playing things like Pixie Guide and Krak's Thumb to stack the odds in your favor. But worst-case scenario, you'll always be drawing a card and that's never a bad thing.
From a flavor perspective, I know this is supposed to be Wild Magic from Dungeons and Dragons. However, the way he wields the staff (combined with the effect) makes me think of the Wabbajack from Elder Scrolls. If only a natural 20 could copy a spell or turn target creature into a chicken!
Forge, Neverwinter Charlatan
This is my personal favorite card from this drop. At heart, this is a treasure commander who also dabbles in aristocrats. Whenever any player sacrifices a creature, you'll create a tapped treasure token - Pretty awesome already. Then he has two more text blocks that work directly in tandem with it. First, is "ward - Sacrifice a creature." This is built-in protection, helps keep the board clear, and triggers himself.
Cue the late-night infomercial salesman voice "But wait, there's more!" He gets +2/0 for each treasure you control and he has evasion in the form of menace. It's going to be quite easy to have Hugh Grant here, (yes, that is actually Hugh Grant on the card) attacking for some large amounts of damage. You'll be devoted to making opponents sac their creatures too, so menace is going to be hard for players to deal with. Not to mention, you're going to be well ahead on mana.
The further down the card you read the better it gets and I think this will be very popular and quite powerful as a mono-black commander.
Conclusion
There you have it my friends, an exciting batch of MTG/DnD leaks for you. Many of these cards are great for Commander and I'll be excited when they drop. As mentioned above, these are based on the brand-new Dungeons and Dragons movie. I personally haven't seen it yet but these cards make me want to see it sooner rather than later. Which one did you like best, and have you seen the movie yet? Comment down below and let me know your thoughts.
