Secret Lair: Every Dog Has Its Day Pre-Orders!
Hello everybody! Wizards has announced a new Secret Lair today. This Secret Lair will be available on August 26, 2020. Below, we'll show the cards and if you want to pick up a set, go here when it releases!
What's Inside?
The new Secret lair is called Every Dog Has Its Day. Players will be able purchase their Secret lair in either non-foil OR foil. The nonfoil version is USD$29.99 and the foil is USD$39.99. Here is what is included along with images:
Price Analysis
As mentioned above, the Secret Lair goes for $29.99 for the nonfoil version and $39.99 for the foil version. How do the cards inside hold up? Prices are pulled from Aether Hub's Market Pricelist!
Rest In Peace - $4.50
Dig Through Time - $5.00
Ancient Grudge - $0.25
Lightning Greaves - $4.00
Total: ~$13.75
If you are buying the nonfoil version, the value of the cards is about roughly half of what you are paying. All of these cards have had multiple foil printings, so the foil multiplier on these is not that high. The art is quite unique, so there will likely be a niche for this. Outside of that niche though, I can't imagine many people wanting to pick this up.
My biggest issue with this Secret Lair is that it's marketed to be dog themed, but there is not a single Dog creature to be found. Players may look at the Cat Secret Lair and see how much it has increased in price and draw comparisons between this Secret Lair and the Cat one. But, the Cat one has a Cat Commander as well as multiple Cat creatures that will be played with that Commander. A lot of casual players wanted the Cats Secret Lair because it goes into their Cat EDH deck. This Secret Lair only features Dogs in it's art; there are no creatures here to slot into a Dog EDH deck (except for Lightning Greaves). I heavily caution players from thinking this will be similar to the Cat Secret Lair. Wizards should've, at least, thrown in Isamaru, Hound of Konda so that it would have a Legendary Dog in the product. Or how about at least something Dog-themed (because most of the Dog creatures aren't very good) like Basilisk Collar?
Had this Secret Lair featured some Dog creatures, I would've heavily recommended players to pick up one. But, because it does not and has a bunch of unrelated cards that don't even make up the value, I'd only pick this up if the art appeals to you.
