I have updated this after some playing and comments. Its a bit more of a ramp now and the addition of Ancient Greenwarden
helps a lot.
Here is my first Zendikar deck - Like many I have been having a great time playing with Scute Swarm
which is possibly the most fun card in ages!!
I have 3 or 4 decks with this - but this one is the most competitive (50% win in Mythic) and like all the scute decks Migratory Greathorn
is a must ... why?? because it gets you land and mutates the Scute to a 3/4 and so once you have 6 land the copies all have the mutate characteristics.
The other mutate cards in the deck that creates Black Scutes
- Necropanther
brings back Ayara or a scute
- Insatiable Hemophage
gives my Scutes Menace and deathtouch as well as gaining a little life
- Cavern Whisperer
makes them discard cards and gives the Scutes menace
And so this brings me to Ayara, First of Locthwain
who does one damage for each black creature entering the battlefield and gains me one life. I almost never have to attack with this deck.
Obviously board wipes and mill decks are a problem as always, however I have Syr Konrad, the Grim
to make them pay for these strategies and Call of the Death-Dweller
and Bala Ged Recovery
help me get cards back.
