Top Standard Decks - January 2025
It is the fresh new year of 2025! And for this month of January, we also embrace the latest decks that made it into the top 8 of Standard. Overall, the changes seem to be minimal, and December 2024 has already shown us most of the adaptations that occurred with the most popular decks. Yeah, even with a few of the long-time regular Standard meta regulars rising up, Esper Dimir still seems to be the major name of the game, no matter what. Aetherdrift is also due in the middle of the month in February, skewing my MTG Standard meta personal list quite a bit as well.
Standard Tournament Meta - Top 8 Decks
For the second month in a row, the motley combination of Dimir, Gruul, and Boros decks share the same spots in the top 3. The composition of the decks are completely different, however, with the current Dimir top 1 splashing more disruption and removal, making it more of a midrange blend than the tempo we saw last time. Simic Beanstalk also enters the fray at 6th place, flying past Four Color Overlords and Jeskai Convoke with its mana value bypassing shenanigans.

Golgari makes its second month back on the top spot, followed very closely by Dimir. Azorius fell off completely from the list after being the 3rd last month, with the rest of last month's entries more or less bumped upwards. Though, the second Dimir is pretty much similar to the one higher this time. Jeskai (Convoke) then pushes into 8th place once more. Oh, and before I forget, Mono White "totally not aggro" also made its way to 7th place this month.

While the middle of the pack is busy with double Mono Black entries, Orzhov Lifegain manages to squeeze its way back again, and at 4th place even. Same with Mono White... the control variant, of course. Well, no triple trifecta of double entries, at least (which effectively ate up the entire BO1 list last month). Dimir Faeries seemed to have made a comeback as well, although the Dimir Poison variant, unfortunately, falls off the very edge this time, at 9th.
