Learn more Download For WindowsYesterday I built a Bant version of this deck, It wasn't great and struggled to get the combo off all of the time and basically fell flat afterwards. In it I mentioned that you probably would want to build it in a control archetype and just control them out the game until you can find the pieces and then finally make their life hell. With this version, the chances of the opponent not scooping before you can manage to get a full lock on the game is a lot slimmer. But you have the pieces to control the board earlier whilst digging for the Scepter or a way to get to it with Karn or the Fae.
Luckily enough, it's Historic All-Access event today (TGIF), so I managed to re-construct the deck in a traditional Azorious Control deck. I didn't manage to get the combo off in the first few games, but managed to do what the deck wants; locking them out of the game. This is more competitive just because of the amount of board clears and ways to dig that I didn't have access to before. I don't think the combo will be that bigger part, it's mainly just there for mid-late game if you want to keep digging for a discontinuity and just keep taking turns. I think the bant shell is slightly better because you have access to Wilderness Rec meaning you can play more reactive and not have to fear about putting a counter on the scepter.
It's certainly a fun deck and more competitive that the last iteration, I can't take it to ladder because I don't have all the cards, but for those that do or those that want to experiement with the Historic All-Acess Event, here's a deck that will make you opponents frustrated and give you the fun that the removal of Nexus may of hindered.
When it doubt, Jank it out.
