Slam down Calix, and get him dealing combat damage to clone your enchantments. Spoiler: Almost everything in the deck is an enchantment. Once you have started cloning, good luck to the opponent keeping up with the removal. Try not to get Calix down without some kind of protection in hand and mana available. Nothing wrong with casting Calix turn 4-5 if it means your deck can operate. You have lifegain in this deck nice and easily with Dawnheart Geist.
Boon of Safety, Alseid of Life's Bounty
, Snakeskin Veil
- Protects Calix for cheap.
Yenna, Redtooth Regent - Another cloner of Enchantments. Even better if you clone auras.
Springheart Nantuko - Can copy even more creatures (read: enchantments) that he is Bestowed upon. Copying this guy is funny, as more of them = more Landfall triggers giving you 1/1 creatures, even if the Bestow doesn't work with copies.
Three Blind Mice - If you can copy this just once with Calix or Yenna, it copies itself infinitely from then on, snowballing. Explanation: Three Blind Mice's 2nd and 3rd stage is "Create a token that's a copy of target token you control.". When Calix or Yenna create a copy of this, Three Blind Mice can target that clone as it is a token. This usually causes opponent to concede when they realise what's happening (a tsunami of mice), as enchantment removal is scare compared to other removal.
All That Glitters, Ethereal Armor
, Ancestral Mask
- Scaling with enchantment counts, often your win con as the game progresses.
Unflinching Courage, Nyx Herald
, Garruk's Uprising
, Setessan Training
- Gives creature(s) trample, which helps trigger Calix's ability to clone. Or at the very worst, forces the opponent to block with more than they want to kill Calix.
Feather of Flight - Basically the same resulting effect as above, only getting in combat damage with Calix through flying.
Defense of the Heart, Fight Rigging
- In this deck purely to get some choice in grabbing key pieces to help.
Mirari's Wake, Nyxbloom Ancient
, Cryptolith Rite
, Greenhouse // Rickety Gazebo
, etc - Ramp baby, ramp. More enchantments being played = more copy targets.
Planar Disruption, Pacifism
, Petrify
, Banishing Light
, Touch the Spirit Realm
, Ossification
- Pure control that can be copied with Calix and Yenna. If the opponent controls no creatures with an aura of yours attached, you need to get some on them ASAP. Try and save Spirit Realm for artifacts, as mana rocks are viable targets always, but even more so if you can use it on them early, then copy Spirit realm later for things like Chromatic Orrery
, Staff of Compleation
, etc.
Farewel - What a bonkers card, thank god it isn't in standard any more. Choose everything but Enchantments and Creatures and you're laughing all day. Everything but enchantments if you're a risky Ricky/Rita
Board Wipes - Take your pick from the ones available to you. Not a bad choice if you find keeping your board state ahead of some decks, and usually you won't have many creatures down or at least would have way more enchantments so you still have presence after destroying all creatures, for example. I recommend Citywide Bust if the opponent has scaled harder than you, sometimes this can keep your Calix and others safe while removing a big stompy threat. Battle for Bywater and Dusk//Dawn also kind of does this. Expel the Interlopers
and Fell the Mighty
are more costly, but you can choose the power limit for the wipe, which is useful.
Eidolon of Astral Winds - A newish Jumpstart card, that I don't have yet. Useful for giving Calix and others flying when you play enchantments. Maybe not worth a rare wildcard for though.
Heliod, Sun-Crowned - Is an enchantment, and when you gain life, can grow your creatures. You can provide lifelink with this card too. A true staple in any lifegain or enchantment deck, honestly. I choose not to because I'm morally superior to my peers. (jk)
Enduring Innocence - Double enchantment ETB triggers if it dies, and gives life for each smol boi you bring in. Combo with Three Blind Mice spam, and you'll be gaining a LOT of life.
Arasta, of the Endless Web - Good to get some value from those pesky opponent's destroying your creatures with instants and sorceries, and helps protect against flying a bit better. Hard to find a place without cutting something more useful though.
Overlord of the Hauntwoods Overlord of the Mistmoors
- These are good enchantment creatures in general, and the impending costs are tasty, but again - putting these in for your other pieces feels bad, mostly. A personal choice.
