Standard - Esper Mill

This deck is meant to target greedy control decks using Psychic Corrosion combined with insane draw power such as Pull From Tomorrow and the UW planeswalkers in order to mill through most/all of the opponents deck, while using the core of the old UW Approach deck to win against aggro and remove most threats of control. Originally the deck did not include black, however against UB and Esper Control decks I found that Arguel's Bloodfast and Glint-Sleeve Siphoner increased the win rate exceptionally, and it allows for The Scarab God in the sidedeck to target midrange and mid-aggro decks. The Eldest Reborn is exceptional as well against UW Control to steal Teferis, and against most mid range decks, as it usually removes the first big threat if kept in the opening hand. Patient Rebuilding is another tool recently added, and is really only good in combination with Psychic Corrosion, although in the mirror match or against decks with heavy discard it is an alternate win condition to build up some steam when running low on cards.

Sideboard Strategy:

Chromium is an option in the sideboard against control, however it is worse than it seems against other control decks as it still is removed by Fumigate, Hour of Devastation, Sweltering Suns, and Settle the Wreckage, but may be unexpected enough to win a game every once in a while against the right decks. Authority of the Consuls is an absolute must have against Red Deck Wins and Rakdos Aggro, as it removes haste from all the opponents creatures and gives you life, while combining with Seal Away to remove any creature on the turn it is played. Fraying Sanity is worse than it seems, as with the amount of draw in the deck it ends up being worse than Psychic Corrosion most of the time and in general irrelevant as a win more card, however it is an option against very late game decks. Ixalan's Binding is really only in the sideboard to counter God Pharaohs Gift and Esper Control, however against those decks it is almost an auto win as denying Teferi, Cast Out, or Scarab God against control is amazing. Minister of Inquiries provides a surprising early game threat against control, as most of the time they will take out early removal such as fatal push and seal away after the first game thinking you have no creatures, then will get destroyed by early Ministers. The Scarab God is an absolutely insane card and can be side decked against almost anything for a similar reason as the ministers, as creature removal will not be the opponents priority when the main deck only includes a total of three creatures. Cleansing Nova replaces Fumigate in control matchups, as it is incredible against Seal Away, Cast Out, or Gearhulks. Tezzeret is an option if you feel you need another draw power source which is proactive rather than Dovin Baan which often has an irrelevent +1.

Enjoy :)
