Hello! After playing several games I've decided to make a better guide so people can enjoy better the deck. I can't categorize it as any tier, since i made it for fun, but being an outlaw of the meta it gets good results.
Main Idea
The main idea of the deck is to flip Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring using the cantrips, such as: Anticipate, Revitalize or Ritual of Rejuvenation, this will allow you to gain tempo and survive aggresive decks.
We can control the board with Cleansing Nova or Settle the Wreckage avoiding great threats with Sinister's Sabotage.
Without bench, our option to deal with planeswalkers are: Sinister's Sabotage, Blink of an Eye and Devious Cover-Up
When one or several Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring are flipped, we can easily kill with a copied Banefire or Expansionn.
Dont be afraid to use the two main win conditios to deal with a threat like Lyra or some other thing you can always retrieve it with Devious Cover-Up.
Nexus of Fate is a tool to get more tempo, and with Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring flipped you can develope further your game with multiple turns
Strength
The deck gives it's best results againts midrange or aggro decks, you gain enought tempo to deal with their threats, if you are unlucky a really hard curved hand can swipe you, but that's magic.
Weakness
You depend on the draws the cantrips give you, sometimes you wont get the answers you want to your problems.
Heavy control and planeswalkers decks are the biggest issue, eventhough Banefire won't be countered the can stall better than you, and you have plenty of useless cards against them, the pairing on Bo3 gets a bit better.
Important Cards
I'm doing this section, rather than focusing on the main win conditions because some people asked me about them. I will use GOLDEN ASTERISK for the most relevant cards, PURPLE ASTERISK for the important ones, BLUE ASTERISK to determine some cards that helps us to develope our plan.
***Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring***
It's the main reason for the deck, not very much to say about it. We flip the amulet asap, and gain value with the cantrips or finis the game with the main win conditions
***Teferi, Hero of Dominaria***
It's one of our biggest threats. This will work as a lightning rod against aggro. Will give us extra draws which is important on the deck and also serves as a secondary winning conditon. It's better than Ral, Izzet Viceroy simply because it will untap us two lands every eot.
***Ral, Izzet Viceroy***
It's a great threat. Also will work as a lightning rod, deck filter and secondary win condition. Is a better filter and winning condition than Teferi, Hero of Dominaria but it won't untap us lands, that's why it's considered a lower rank. We want to use a cantrips on our opponents turn
***Search for Azcanta // Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin***
One of the best deck filters in the format. Since we normally will look for solutions this is a great tool. It will help us on early turns to dig for lands or whatever we need and once it's flipped it gives us a lot of deck depth
***Banefire***
It's our main win condition. Cheaper than Expansion // Explosion and you make it uncountereable. Not too much to say about the card.
***All the cantrips***
Rather to mention all of them one by one i will bulk them in the same slot. We need them to flip the Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring they are less powerfull than the amulet, but they are a mean to an end. We gain tempo via, lifes, bouncing creatures or we simply filter our deck. They are very important and the deck totally depends on them.
***Settle the Wreckage***
This allows us to stop aggresive decks, it's really important to work against aggresive decks, because some times we can't reach turn five to clear with the Cleansing Nova.
***Cleansing Nova***
This is a great weapon against midrange decks simply beacuse we will normally get to turn five and remove the great threats they have.
***Nexus of Fate***
This is a great card, but we are not turbofog and we don't need to rely that much on this card for our win, but it will help us to develope our plan even more if we have the Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring flipped.
Mulligans
My ideal hand is 2-3 lands, 2 cantrips, 1 amulet 1 mass removal. This is the safe option, you will have enough mana to play your cantrips and start digging for the answers to your match up.
Mulligan too much is hard on the deck, that's why playing hands with two lands and some cantrips, are reasonable. Hand size is relevant since, until you flip Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring you won't be getting 2x1 options.
Stats
As for November 29 2018 my win rate is ~~65% 138 games -- 89W -- 49L, some times when azcanta is flipped players tend to concede when playing copied Nexus of Fate
Sideboard
I'm still working on the sideboard, Nezahal, Primal Tide is a good card against control, not so convinced about Niv-Mizzet, Parun.
Sorcerous Spyglass and Negate are a must against control decks.
The rest of the cards I'm still playing to see what i need, for now i think a Disenchant alike card is needed, but still working on it
Development
As for Oct 15th I'm considering changing Sanguine Sacrament for Invoke the Divine.
Oct 16th Testing using 1x Thousand-Year Storm to improve some late match ups. I've added the card to the maybeboard.
Oct 24th after more testing I've removed 1x Sinister Sabotage 1xSanguine Sacrament and added 2xIxalan's Binding. Also testing to change 1xBanefire for 1xFight with Fire.
Nov 29th, Swaped Ral, Izzet Viceroy to sideboard for Niv-Mizzet, Parun
Dec 4th, Changed Anticipate for Opt, think it is better for seeking Primal Amulet // Primal Wellspring
Jan 3th, Swaped several cards after watching an awful aggro meta, changed to another versión called Cantrips anti burn, link here (https://aetherhub.com/Deck/Public/49927)
Jan 12th Another verision of the bo1 cantrips deck (https://aetherhub.com/Deck/Edit/52668)
