Description

Hey Guys!

So, I've been playing Magic off and on for a little over 10 years. Since my intial games, I have been OBSSESED with control; Esper Control specifically (I sound like a fun guy, huh?) I'm always analyzing the meta and making tiny edits that make a big impact. With this deck submission, I think I'm on to something. I've went 5-X with this list in Competitive Constructed 3 times now since yesterday. I haven't seen a list like this yet, so I'm a litle proud of it. The crazy part about the success of this deck is that...THE SIDEBOARD ISN'T EVEN FINISHED! At least, I dont think so. I want to add 3 or 4 Thief of Sanity but need the WC. I could cut something for another land as well, maybe a fourth Isolated Chapelimage , but I have no idea what to cut. Let's briefly talk about matchups:

The Good Matchups:

Golgari: This list does WORK agasint that deck. ALL VERSIONS. Maybe I'm lucky but I get Detection Towerimage in most of my games against them, so Carnage Tyrantimage is nothing. Even if I didnt get it, we still have a lot of tools to kill it. I like to board out Lyra, amongst other things, for Esper Dragon since they have a lot of control themselves.

Izzet Control/Phoenix: Profane Procession // Tomb of the Dusk Roseimage destroys this deck. I wish I could have 2.

Jeskai Control: We have WAY more tools than they do with more firepower.

The Okay:

Weenie decks (Red included): Even after boarding I find the outcome to be 50/50. It seems like i always go 2-1 or 1-2 agaisnt these guys. I guess I dont believe in the heart of the cards as much as I should. Really we should destroy them post-board due to Craving, Comteempt and other board wipes, but I NEVER DRAW THEM. Also, ALWAYS couter thier Frenzy. Board in Invoke the Divineimage to ensure it's death. We will lose if they get that card out turn 4-7. Trust that.

The Ugly:

No idea. There isn't a deck out there we cannot beat. Maybe Selesnya Tokens, Drudge or Reinforcement decks. I haven't fought those decks yet.

SIDENOTE!!!!: There have been times where I had to do the Teferi, Infinite Loop combo. In the 2-3 times I've done it, it's because I ran out of win-cons. I felt scummy doing it, but a win is a win. I'm sorry to the guy inparticular where I had the Teferi Loop on and he still had 30 cards in his deck. But hey, you didnt surrender so there's that.

Please give me your thoughts and experience with this list. I am constantly looking to improve and with more trial runs through you guys, this deck can really go somewhere. After perfecting it, maybe we can take it to the Esper Professor himself, Shaheen Soorani, and see what he thinks! Also, I am making a super cool Grixis corntol list soon. So look out for that!

Thank you for your time,

WingsAloft
